Tips to keep your skin healthier this summer


While summer means you can go out and flaunt your skin, it also means your skin is exposed to all kinds of hazards. If you don’t take appropriate precautions you may soon come to regret it. Here are a few tips that would help you keep your skin safer from the scorching summer heat.

Cover your skin

Now, what can be a better way to protect from sun than covering your skin? Make use of gloves, and an extra layer of full sleeved clothes when going out in sun. You may remove them once indoors. If that’s not possible you may at least make use of a decent umbrella.

Exfoliate your skin regularly

Water is loaded with health benefits. It becomes even more important to drink water regularly in summer as you’re losing a lot of water in sweat. You must take 4-5 litres of water daily especially in summers and when you’re consuming caffeinated drinks. Water is also good for detoxification.

Be friends with sunscreen

You must apply as much sunscreen as needed. Remember it’s not enough to apply just once. Apply a few times a day depending on your sun exposure. Also, don’t think that you’re safe indoors. Sunscreen is necessary even if you stay indoors. Also, it is important to choose the right sunscreen for your skin type (categorised by SPF). Good thing is that you can also buy sunscreen online so that you don’t have to go out in the sun.

Soothe the sunburns

Despite all your precautions you may still get sunburns. It’s not possible to revert the damage immediately but you should try to minimise it. You may use cooling gels or skin soothing botanicals. It would prevent skin peeling and diminish inflammation.

Repair the damage from sun

Sun damages the skin irrespective of sun burn or not. The sunlight contains UV rays that do the most damage and can result in brown spots, wrinkling, and coarse skin. It causes inflammation and generate free radicals. Free radicals are reactive in nature and affects cellular growth and damages collagen apart from other effects.
