Extreme diets which promise results after only ten days, slim and detox tea which will ‘miraculously make the fat disappear’ are all a lie. Anyone who wants to get in shape and lose weight in a healthy way should be prepared to spend some time working hard before the results show.
1Ditch Bad Habits
People tend to have more discipline during the workdays, when they go to work and have deadlines, but as soon as the weekend comes they loosen up a bit. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it affects the way people eat: healthy during work days, and feasting on weekends. This ‘famine or feast’ culture is bad for you: any weight loss you might have achieved is gone, blood glucose levels spike up, and gut bacteria can make your life a nightmare.
You don’t have to starve on work days nor do you have to overindulge on weekends. Finding the middle between the two, and having a balanced diet is the key to healthy organism.
People may argue about how effective dieting may be, but no one can deny that exercise will help you get the body you want. Depending on the results you wish to achieve you should choose either cardio or strength training, but you should definitely join your local gym and start working out.
Pack your bag, take a bottle of water and a towel with you, put on your bodybuilding clothing and start. The beginning is the most difficult part, it gets easier after a few days, and within a month (or less) you will be able to see the first results, which will give you new strength to keep going.
There are two important things to do in the morning: boost your metabolism and eat a healthy breakfast. The best way to boost your metabolism is not to have a cup of coffee the moment you get up, but rather a glass of lemon water. A glass of warm water and freshly squeezed lemon in the morning will do wonders for your health: it will improve your digestion, strengthen your immune system, help detox the liver, and much more.
After that, you are ready for a healthy breakfast. It doesn’t have to be big, just enough to keep you going until lunch. Those who skip breakfast tend to eat much more for lunch and end up feeling stuffed and sleepy after meal.
It’s difficult to resist a bag of chips or a candy bar when we’re hungry or watching a movie, but you can enjoy a healthy snack instead of junk food. Swap sodas for flavoured water you can make yourself. Make your own cereal bars at home with plenty of dried fruit and honey instead of sugar, and try making your own healthy chips out of kale, apples, and carrots. Not only are these super-healthy, but also incredibly delicious.
Remember, being skinny will do you no good if you are sick, and your body will suffer much more than you will enjoy wearing tight clothes. Your summer body should be a healthy one – something you will proudly ‘wear’ all year long. Discipline and hard work will pay off much more than ten-day diets, and you will feel healthy and strong, not weak and exhausted all the time.
