How to model your fitness regime for long-term success

We all have different methods and techniques to stay at peak physical fitness. Some choose to do Pilates and spin classes whilst others may force themselves through the pain barrier to ensure maximum effectiveness in their workouts. There is no right or wrong way to exercise, it’s all down to personal preference.

There will be some techniques that work for you and others that don’t. The most important thing is finding which methods are the best to ensure you remain fit and avoid serious injury issues. Here are a few ways that you can model your entire regime in order to give yourself the best chance of long-term success.

Ultimately, diet and exercise go hand-in-hand. There’s no point exercising on a daily basis if you’re going to eat anything and everything. It also makes no sense to eat healthily without hitting the gym on a regular basis. For long-term success and peak physical fitness, you must remain disciplined and follow a very strict pattern.

You cannot sway from this or else you will lose your body tone, muscle and stamina. Professional athletes ensure they maintain their body shape and fitness, even in the close season when they’re not playing matches or competing in events. After all, it’s almost essential to follow your fitness plan if you are going to achieve and maintain your body shape.

For example, Leicester City’s ability to stay in shape and maintain their peak level of fitness has played a key role in their current Premier League title challenge in the football. After a truly remarkable campaign, the Foxes are priced at 4/6 to win the title at and Claudio Ranieri’s side are going strong. Leicester are a very fit side, everyone knows their jobs and everyone works hard for the team. Yes, they’re riding on adrenaline but there are no real signs of fatigue just yet.

One of the main reasons for their success is how they have managed to avoid serious injury issues throughout the season – especially to their key players. When influential striker Jamie Vardy picked up a hip injury back in November, Leicester fans thought their dream was over. Fortunately for Ranieri’s men, Vardy was able to continue playing (and scoring) due to a cryotherapy chamber. That is just one of the many methods professional sportsmen and women use to quickly overcome slight knocks.

It’s crucial to build up your workouts. Do not attempt to dive straight in at the deep end and overwork your muscles or else you will put yourself and your muscles at risk. After a prolonged period without physical activity, your body cannot cope with an immediate return to your pre-break state.

You must build your stamina, strength and speed back up again before attempting to continue where you left off. If you don’t follow this simple step, you will never achieve your ultimate goal of peak physical fitness. All you will do is damage your muscles and ability to maximise your workouts to great effect. If you follow these steps, you too will stay in great shape, avoid injuries and remain at the top of your game!
