However, there are certain useful tips and tricks that can actually significantly increase your storage space so that your cleaning and organizing efforts are finally visible and worth your while.

Let’s find out what those are!

Well, start with the obvious – get rid of some stuff

This might seem difficult, but once you start, it gets a lot easier. The key is to be meticulous and check every cupboard, drawer and closet. There are bound to be things there you haven’t used or seen in years, and that means that you don’t actually need them. Donating them is a great option and an excellent motivator as you are doing something nice for others. Finally, if you don’t have the willpower to throw something away get some friends to help, we are sure they won’t have any attachments to your old clothes or furniture.

    Get creative

There are so many great storage options available on the market currently, and you can store a lot of items stylishly in plain sight. All you have to do is figure out what works best with your home decor. For example, trunks and baskets can be a fine addition to both your living room and your bedroom. You can also use your ottoman as a great and very functional storage space.

As for your basement or garage, you can use clear storage containers that will allow you to see what you have stored inside, allowing for far better organization and a lot less rummaging when you try to find something. And as for those big pieces, that you can’t really store in your basement or the attic, you should consider removalist storage options so that you can get them out of the way, but still bring them back if you decide to redecorate and find that they will fit nicely.

Time for a bit of remodel

There are a lot of unused spaces around your home that can be used as quality storage space. Start with your stairs. First, you can convert the space under the staircase into a great storage room, and then install drawers in each step. This is going to significantly increase you ability to store things around your home. The next big remodel can come from you deciding to think vertically. You can install cupboards above doorways and cover whole surfaces with shelves instead of adding just a few. Just don’t forget to get quality ladders as you might be climbing to reach something way up high.

    Invest in functional furniture

Your furniture might be your biggest ally when it comes to increasing the storage space in your home. You can get beds and sofas with built-in shelves and drawers, not to mention additional space in the trunk inside most couches. Don’t forget about the possibility of increasing storage space by using multi purpose furniture. You can use a three-sided wooden box as both end table and pet bed. Another option is transforming an old chest with a lot of storage room into a great seating area by covering it with fabrics and cushions.

    Hang it up

Yup, it is as simple as that. If you have space on your walls and the items go well with your decor, hanging them is the simplest solution to save up on space. For example, bulletin board can be a great way to store jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets, and you can hang them up in your closet, it takes up a lot less space then a bunch of jewelry boxes. Another option is getting special hangers for your scarves and ties. Easy and cheap solutions that are bound to help you free up some additional space.

There you have it, all done. You can now enjoy the additional space and organize your home a bit better. What more can one ask for then to come home to a bright, decluttered space. Enjoy!
