Symptoms of Liver Cirrhosis & How to deal with them in Ayurveda

    Liver Cirrhosis: Overview

Liver Cirrhosis is a condition which causes scarring (fibrosis) of the liver due to several types of liver diseases. In other words, Liver Cirrhosis is a complication of liver disease which results in an irreversible scarring of the liver and loss of liver cells. There is effective Liver Cirrhosis treatment in Ayurveda. This treatment involves the use of special herbs and herbal formulations which can be beneficial in managing the symptoms of Liver Cirrhosis.

The occurrence of Liver Cirrhosis is basically a response to damage, caused to the liver, which is an important organ of the body. Liver carries out a number of important functions such as cleansing the blood, producing vital nutrients and detoxification of harmful substances in the body. The liver may get damaged due to many forms of liver diseases and conditions like hepatitis and chronic alcoholism which may injure and even kill the liver cells.

Whenever there is some kind of damage to the liver, the organ repairs itself and its damaged cells. This self-repair process followed by the liver leads to the formation of scar tissue. Over a period of time, the increasing formation of scar tissue eventually hampers the proper functioning of the liver. The liver cells which do not die, when the liver is damaged start multiplying, in an effort to replace the cells that have died. Because of this, clusters of newly formed liver cells regenerative nodules develop within the scar tissue.

The formation of scar tissue and other changes which are triggered by Liver Cirrhosis can further lead to the development of specific complications or Decompensated Cirrhosis which is a life-threatening condition.

The damage which the liver undergoes in Liver Cirrhosis cannot be reversed. However, early diagnosis of the condition can be extremely helpful in treating its cause like commonly chronic alcohol abuse and viral hepatitis B and C to prevent further damage to the liver in time.
