
Whether you’re worried about that newly arrived pimple on your face, or the severe acne problem that has been troubling you for a while, given below are some home remedies to treat them.
1. Green Tea
Green tea can be useful in acne as it has both antioxidant properties and antimicrobial property. It can be used as a face wash after cooling it down or the bags could be placed over the acne and left there for some time.
2. Honey
Honey has antimicrobial property which can be beneficial in acne. To use honey for acne you may directly apply it on the affected areas, or use as a facemask with other ingredients like oatmeal.
3. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is a good remedy for treating acne at home. It serves as an antiseptic in disinfecting the pores. For best results just apply a drop of it on the affected areas thrice a day.
In case your skin doesn’t take the oil well, and presents with skin irritation, excessive dryness or redness then switch to 5% solution of the tea tree oil. It can be added with witch hazel for quick results.
4. Mint
Mint acts by unblocking the pores by getting rid of the excess oil. You can mix finely chopped mint leaves in powdered oatmeal and plain yoghurt (all in equal quantities). Apply the mixture on the face for about 10-15 minutes, and then rinse off with water.
5. Aspirin
Aspirin is a Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that helps in reducing inflammation associated with the acne. Crush the tablet and mix in little water to form a paste. Apply the paste directly on the pimples for best results.
6. Witch Hazel
Witch Hazel is a natural astringent that helps in reducing the pimples. For desired results you should soak a cotton ball and dab it on the pimples twice a day.
7. Echinacea
Echinacea also has some antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help in acne. Soak a soft cloth in Echinacea tea and use it to wash the face. Do it every day for better results. Alternately, you can put a few drops of it on a cotton ball and smudge it on the affected areas.
8. Apple Cider Vinegar
The natural acids in apple cider vinegar can reduce inflammation, exfoliate dead cells and treat pimples. Mix it with water in equal parts and apply it on the skin with the help of cotton balls.
9. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a wonderful plant that aids in healing, fights infection and some effect on scars too. Scoop out the gel from the plant and smear it on the pimples. Packaged aloe gel is also available in stores.
10. Baking Soda
Baking soda acts as an exfoliant, unblocking pores and removing dead cells from the skin. It’s also an excellent buffer and balances the skin pH. It has little antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties too. Make a paste by mixing it in water and apply on pimples. Wash after few minutes. Alternately, mix baking soda with cinnamon powder, lemon juice and honey. Apply them on face and rinse off after five minutes.
11. Lemons
Lemons are very good exfoliants, besides having some disinfectant action and anti-tanning action. Not only they reduce pimples and scars, but also prevent new ones from appearing. Apply the lemon juice with the help of cotton and wash with water after some time.
12. Oatmeal
Oatmeal acts by absorbing excess oil and unblocking the skin pores. It’s also a good exfoliate. Mix a cup of cooked oatmeal in a teaspoon of honey and juice of half lemon. Apply the mixture on the skin, rubbing gently. Wash the face after 30 minutes. Repeat twice a week for best results.

13. Fuller’s Earth
It’s available in Indian subcontinent by the name of multani mitti. It absorbs excess oil from the skin and unblocks the skin pores. It also improves skin complexion. Mix it in rose water and sandalwood powder and apply as a face pack. Wash the pack once it’s dry. Use it once per week for best results.
