9 Unexpected Items That Will Help You Clean Your Home

We all know the basic cleaning supplies – sponge, disinfectant, microfiber cloths, vacuum cleaners, etc. Some of the more experienced are even familiar with the many uses of baking soda and white vinegar. However, I imagine that very few of you can imagine cleaning with the items you’re going to see in the following lines. But why not?

If you’re a real cleaning enthusiast, nothing can stop you. Items from your cupboards, wardrobe and even your garage can do the job. You just need a little imagination. For initial inspiration, though, you can check our list of items:

    Newspaper

It’s Saturday morning. You’re sitting in your living room having coffee, reading the newspaper.

What better time to clean your windows? I bet many of you don’t know that a simple ball of newspaper can make your windows sparkling.

All you need to do is roll a ball of old newspaper and use it to wipe over Windows post-products. Use circular motions at first and then proceed with vertical and horizontal strokes. The final result will be streak-free windows!

    Hairdryer

Well, this is not exactly a cleaning tip, but rather a mask-the-dirt trick. You’ve never thought of using the hairdryer on anything other than your hair, right? It’s time to start now. Imagine having unexpected guests in 20 minutes. Imagine that ornament scattered shelves that you always forget to clean (or put off for later).

Your hairdryer now is your best friend. Blow away all the dust in one simple motion. Аs we said, this is not actual cleaning, but it works for the moment. However, if you want to achieve better results, you can quickly mop the floor afterwards

    Socks

Note: We don’t recommend using your favourite pair of socks for this purpose.

The socks are great. They keep you warm in the winter. They make your life a little brighter every morning. And they help you clean the house. Just slip one over your hand and use it to buff up any surface to get that shiny finish you dream of. Socks are also great for cleaning blinds. Start at the top and work your way down, cleaning each slat on both sides simultaneously.

    Cotton buds

Any FRIENDS fans here? You know how Monica is a clean freak, right? If you’re anything like her and you want to get into the most minor, hardest-to-reach places, cotton buds are great for the purpose. After all, that’s what they’re made for. So, why stop at ears? Glasses frames, appliances’ buttons and around phone screens – all become super easy to clean!

    Toothbrush

An old toothbrush soaked in baking soda and vinegar solution is the perfect tool to clean everything. The bristles of the toothbrush will scrub any dirt away. Nooks and crannies, in-between tiles and even your shoes – the toothbrush is an essential part of your cleaning supplies.

If you decide to use your current toothbrush for cleaning purposes, please, don’t use it again after that!

    Rice

Is Rice one of your favourite meals? Great! That means you have around the house all the time. Next time you’re wondering how to scrub a strange-shaped glass, a blender, or a vase, just use rice.

All you need to do is to put in a little water, a squeeze of soap, and a handful of this nutritious food. After that, just shake the item, and the rice grains will scrub it for you. All the dirt and grime will be cleaned in no time and with no effort!

    Iron

It’s a cold November night. It’s raining outside. You’re having dinner with your significant other, and you’ve lit a few candles to make the setting even more romantic. Sounds impressive, right? Unfortunately, one of the candles is being knocked down on the floor. What do you do? Go!

Of course, you go straight to your iron! Simply lay a sheet of kitchen roll over the wax and iron over it on low heat. Thus, you’ll cause the was to re-melt and stick to the kitchen roll, leaving your carpet stain-free

    Hockey stick

Did you know that there’s no point in spending money on an extendable duster if you have a hockey stick lying around the house? Yes, that’s right. Just put something soft on it, for example, a cleaning cloth or a sock. Now you have the perfect weapon to help you deal with all those hard to reach places.

    Glasses cloth

Are you dreaming of the perfect smudge-free mirror? Microfiber cloths are good, but they can be expensive. If you or anyone in your family wears glasses, that means that you already have the perfect solution. From glass ornaments and vases to laptops and TV screens, you can clean anything with it.  A glasses cloth will leave your mirror surfaces shining beautifully.
